Hello and Greetings!!! My name is Christina Nordloh, Artist and moderator of this page. In my personal life I've been married 14 years and mother of two very creative children. I'm a local artist in Colorado, and part of the GCRAG.org a local art guild here. I will be posting the artwork I create for the various shows that will be happening over the next few months, and the links where to see them in person. Artist Statement: Shape, depth, color, and the richness of the world around me inspire me to create as an artist. I enjoy puzzling how all the pieces fit together to make the painting or drawing "look" like what I see. I enjoy drawing reflective objects, people, animals and anything that grabs my fancy. At the moment I'm experimenting with serious paintings and whimsical elements to create something that is both beautiful and enjoyable to view. My preferred mediums are acrylic paint and prismacolor pencils - but not generally together. I enjoy the feel of a brush moving accross the canvas, and I love how my pencils blend and combine the waxy colors to create depth, highlights, and shadows. My pencil work in particular is different from what I've seen because I blend the colors until the picture looks more like a painting than a drawing. I rarely use sketchy lines - I prefer a smoother well blended appearance to my work. My artwork is usually self explanatory, with small added details to give the viewer something to explore beyond the main focus of the piece. I will go where my artwork leads me, but it is my goal to become a children's book illustrator with my more serious artwork in galleries.
A quick note - like many artists I have been told time and time again (by various sources) that art wouldn't make a good career. However, art always called me back to the paper, canvas, and the wild passionate colors. I have to make a special thank you, here, to Julia Cameron for writing the book "The Artist Way - A spiritual path to higher creativity". It helped me find my path, and the courage to walk it.
If you have any further questions about me or my art please email me at Tragonryder - I would be happy to hear from you.
Sincerely,
